After hearing so many rave reviews about David Goggins’ book, Can’t Hurt Me, I purchased and read (well, actually listened to), his book. While finishing up the book in January, I happened to hear about Colin O’Brady’s newly published book, The Impossible First. I found his story about suffering severe burns in his legs and feet to his amazing recovery so compelling that I read it immediately. Interestingly, both books are about extraordinary men who seek out and accomplish amazing physical feats. If you are looking for motivation, definitely read one or both of these!

I had a hard time getting into this Can’t Hurt Me but friends told me to stick with it. After getting over the F bomb that Goggins drops every other sentence and sticking with the book through the narrator/author conversations (only in the audiobook), I eventually got to the parts that I found more interesting … his endurance races.

While I cannot relate to Goggins and do not aspire to be remotely like him, I do find his message that we only tap into 40% of our abilities inspiring and incredibly motivating. He definitely has proven that he can endure pain that most of us cannot fathom.

This book is an interesting read and Goggins is a fascinating man.

Memoir of Colin O’Brady’s story of crossing Antarctica unassisted. While there is controversy as to whether or not Colin deserves the honor of being the first to cross Antarctica unassisted, his achievement is definitely worth celebrating. I find his story incredibly inspiring and I love his positive and empowering message that we can achieve what we put our minds to.

I love how he weaves in past events that brought him to this point and tells us all that led him to this adventure. I highly recommend this book!
