Me: My doctor told me that I have a heart rate of an athlete.

Mike: You are an athlete.

Growing up I always considered myself non-athletic. I am the oldest of 4 girls and I was the only one who wasn’t in year round sports. I never felt as agile and coordinated in sports as my sisters were.

As an adult I sought things to keep myself active and help me stay fit. Dance and aerobics in my 20s. Martial arts in my 30s.

In my 40s things changed. We moved to a new state. Our kids got busier with their activities and I had to give up my gym membership for the flexibility of home workouts. Goodbye to organized group classes.

My new friends encouraged me to do 5Ks so we did a quite a few for a couple of years. Then we dabbled in sprint triathlons and did those for the next couple of years.

I hated running and other endurance sports. I am certainly not fast enough to be competitive. Despite that I found that races motivated me. They gave me a way to measure my progress and set new goals for myself. I found myself doing longer distances and setting the bar higher.

Fast forward to today.

I just completed my 3rd half marathon and I’m currently training for my first Half Ironman.

I guess Mike is right.

I am an athlete.

Cool.

Some have a personal message and story that resonates with you. I am one of those few active, consistent and dedicated coaches. I strive to motivate others by sharing my journey. I listen to and respond to your needs. Before you make your Beachbody purchase, choose a coach that inspires, encourages and helps you stay on track with your health and fitness goals.
